Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between achievement motivation and school engagement in academic burnout among the students of university with distance-learning system. The subjects in this study were 390 participants, who were active undergraduate students at Distance Learning Unit of Universitas Terbuka in Surabaya obtained by accidental sampling. This study used quantitative method with correlational technique. The data was analized with multiple regression analysis to formulate the relation between independent variables (achievement motivation and school engagement) and dependent variable (academic burnout) using SPSS 25th version software. The results showed that there is a significant and negative correlation between achievement motivation and academic burnout, and a non-significant negative correlation between school engagement and academic burnout.
