Abstract

The country looks to college students as a beacon of hope because of the high expectations placed on them to reach their full potential. Nonetheless, a large number of students choose to put off studying until later in order to finish their tasks. This study aims to find the relationship between the intensity of watching Korean drama series and self-criticism with academic procrastination, specifically how much these two variables influence academic procrastination among students. This research is a correlational quantitative study that seeks to examine the relationship between the intensity of watching Korean drama series and self-criticism with academic procrastination behavior. The respondents of this study are 241 active students in Surabaya. The data was processed using multiple regression analysis techniques with IBM SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows. There is a positive relationship between the intensity of watching Korean drama series and self-criticism with a significance of 0.000 (p<0.005). The research results indicate a correlation between the intensity of watching Korean drama series and self-criticism with academic procrastination of 0.229 with a contribution of 22.9%. This means that the variables of the intensity of watching Korean drama series and self-criticism have a contribution influence of 22.9% on the variable of academic procrastination, while the remaining 77.1% may be caused by other variables not examined in this study.
