Abstract

Every city has problems faced by urban people. There are many urban problems such as congestion, air pollution, lack of residential land, and an increase in the city population, however, people choose to survive in the city with the many urban problems they face. This study aims to determine the relationship between optimism and social support and resilience in the people of Surabaya who choose to stay in the city. This study uses quantitative research involving 341 people living in the city of Surabaya. The data collection instrument in this study used a scale consisting of optimism, social support and resilience scales. The data analysis technique uses regression analysis techniques with the help of the IBM Statistic Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25 for Windows program. The results of the study in the simultaneous test obtained a significance value of 0.832 (p>0.05). This means that optimism and social support simultaneously have no effect on resilience. In a partial test, optimism with resilience obtained a significance value of 0.546 (p>0.05) and social support with resilience obtained a significance value of 0.827 (p>0.05). This means that there is no relationship between optimism and resilience and there is no relationship between social support and resilience.
