Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between social media addiction tendencies and body dissatisfaction with social anxiety in early adulthood. This research used quantitative research with a total of 271 subjects. The sampling technique in this research is accidental sampling technique. The measuring instruments in this study used a social anxiety scale of 36 items, a social media addiction tendency scale of 40 items and a body dissatisfaction scale of 40 items. The sample who participated in this research were active students who were studying at tertiary institutions in Sukolilo District. Based on analytical calculations using multiple regression analysis, a score of t = 10.654 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01) was obtained, meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between the tendency to be addicted to social media and social anxiety in early adulthood. And multiple analysis obtained a score of t= 7.323 with p = 0.000 (p<0.01) meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between social body dissatisfaction and social anxiety in early adulthood. Meanwhile, a score of F = 300.480 was obtained with p = 0.000 (p<0.01), which means that there is a very significant relationship between the tendency to be addicted to social media and body dissatisfaction with social anxiety in early adulthood.
