Abstract

This thesis discusses Representation of Spin's technique in Film entitled Thank You for Smoking where the main character in the film, Nick Naylor, uses Spin Technique to defend tobacco. Film will be analyzed using Roland Barthes semiotics. Roland Barthes's analysis has three stages which first look for denotation, then connotation and the last is myth. The results of research in the form of Nick Naylor as the main character using spin to maintain and strengthen the company's position of people who want to drop the company's image. the conclusion is that spin technique is very useful to maintain the image of a company, strengthen arguments, strengthen the position and weaken the position of the other person. Spin technique also has the power of words to influence the mindset and habits of the community where it suits the user's spin technique
