Abstract

The phenomenon of academic anxiety among students is becoming an increasingly important issue in the world of education, especially if academic anxiety arises from the perception of parents' academic expectations. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the perception of parents' academic expectations and academic anxiety in students. The method used is quantitative, involving 120 active undergraduate students (S1) from the 2022, 2023, 2024, and odd semesters of 2025/2026 at Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. The research instrument for the academic anxiety scale was compiled based on the theory of Nevid (2005) and the perception scale for parents' academic expectations was compiled based on the theory of Wang & Heppner (2002). The sampling technique used in this study was non- probability sampling, namely the quota sampling technique. The results of the study using the Product Moment Correlation test showed a very significant positive correlation, so this research hypothesis was accepted.
