Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and Quarter Life Crisis among university students in Surabaya City, with career anxiety as a mediating variable. University students are in a transitional phase toward early adulthood, which is characterized by major life decisions related to career, identity, and future direction. Uncertainty in facing this phase often triggers anxiety and existential distress known as Quarter Life Crisis. Individuals with high intolerance of uncertainty tend to perceive ambiguous situations as threatening, making them more vulnerable to anxiety and life-direction confusion.This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design and mediation model. The participants were university students in Surabaya who were in the early adulthood age range. Data were collected using the Quarter Life Crisis scale, intolerance of uncertainty scale, and career anxiety scale, all of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using regression analysis and mediation testing.The results are expected to show that intolerance of uncertainty is positively related to Quarter Life Crisis, and that career anxiety mediates this relationship. In other words, higher intolerance of uncertainty leads to higher career anxiety, which in turn increases the level of Quarter Life Crisis. These findings are expected to provide a basis for developing psychological intervention programs and career counseling services in universities to help students navigate life transitions more adaptively.
