Abstract

Studi ini mengamati keterkaitan antara kontrol diri serta gaya hidup terhadap tindakan belanja berlebihan di kalangan pegawai yang memakai e-money di Jawa Timur. Dengan maraknya pembayaran digital, aktivitas membeli jadi lebih cepat namun juga membuka celah bagi kebiasaan konsumsi impulsif lantaran rasa ragu saat bayar mulai pudar. Metode yang digunakan bersifat numerik, bertujuan melihat sejauh mana variabel saling berkait. Sebanyak 259 responden yang merupakan pekerja aktif pengguna dompet digital turut ambil bagian, mereka dipilih secara sengaja sesuai kriteria tertentu dari wilayah setempat. Data dikumpulkan lewat tiga instrumen: skala kontrol diri, pola hidup, serta kebiasaan belanja. Ternyata, ada korelasi kuat namun terbalik antara kemampuan mengendalikan diri dengan kecenderungan konsumsi berlebih semakin seseorang bisa menahan dorongan, semakin jarang ia bertindak impulsif saat membelanjakan uang secara digital. Di sisi lain, pola hidup yang cenderung boros justru sejalan lurus dengan peningkatan perilaku konsumtif, artinya orang dengan standar hidup lebih tinggi sering kali lebih mudah tergoda untuk membeli hal-hal non-esensial. Hasil tersebut menyiratkan bahwa dua faktor ini pengaturan diri dan cara menjalani hidup turut membentuk pola pengeluaran para pekerja yang bergantung pada dompet elektronik. Akhirnya, kesadaran atas kedua elemen itu tampak menjadi salah satu kunci utama dalam mencegah pembelanjaan berlebihan di tengah maraknya transaksi tanpa uang tunai.
