Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and self-control on compulsive buying paylater in teachers and employees of Al Azhar School in East Java. The sample in this study were 210 respondents who are teachers and employees of Al Azhar School in East Java aged between 20 and 40 years old who live in the Surabaya area and actively use the e-commerce platform at least once a month. The data analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression. The results showed that: (1) there is a relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and selfcontrol with compulsive buying paylater in teachers and employees of Al Azhar School East Java (F = 613.145; p < 0.05) where the contribution of the relationship between FOMO and self-control with compulsive buying Paylater is 85.6%; (2) there is a positive relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and compulsive buying paylater in teachers and employees of Al Azhar School East Java (t = 7. 789; p < 0.05), where the contribution of the FOMO relationship with compulsive buying paylater is 49.3%; and (3) there is a negative relationship between self-control and compulsive buying paylater in teachers and employees of Al Azhar School in East Java (t = -22.667; p < 0.05), where the relationship between self-control and compulsive buying paylater is 81.4%; And it is hoped that the study will be able to provide financial education to teachers and employees so that they are wiser in using paylater services. Apart from that, schools can hold seminars or training on personal financial management to increase self control over the risk of FOMO with compulsive buying.
