Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between self-concept and social support on psychological well-being among final-year students. Final- year students are required to prepare themselves for entering the workforce, during which they face numerous expectations from parents, family, and those around them. This situation can increase the risk of low psychological well-being. Factors that can influence this include self-concept, or how individuals perceive themselves, and social support. The study employs a correlational quantitative design involving 312 respondents selected through a survey method in the form of a questionnaire. Data collection instruments include the Self Concept Scale (SCS), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MPSS) developed by Zimet et al. (1988), supplemented with Sarafino’s theory (1994), and the Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale (RPWB). The analysis results indicate a significant positive relationship between self-concept and psychological well-being. The significance value for variable X1 (self-concept) is 0.000 (p < 0.01) with a computed t-value of 22.78, which is much greater than the t table value of 1.968. This indicates that self-concept has a positive and highly significant effect on psychological well-being. Meanwhile, for variable X2 (social support), a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01) with a computed t-value of 7.55 was obtained, which also exceeds the t-table value of 1.968. These results show that social support significantly contributes to the positive relationship between self concept and psychological well-being among final- year students. This finding emphasizes the importance of a strong self- concept and social support in enhancing psychological well-being among final-year psychology students.
