Abstract

Work engagement is defined as a positive psychological state characterised by emotional attachment to work, dedication to it, and full cognitive involvement in work activities. This form of commitment can be influenced by internal psychological factors, such as resilience and burnout. The present study examines the relationship between resilience, burnout, and work engagement among office workers at a company specialising in furnaces, kilns, and demolition operations in the mining sector. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 50 employees who were selected using total sampling. The collection of data was undertaken using three instruments that had been subject to validation: The UWES-17 (for work engagement), CD-RISC 25 (for resilience) and MBI-GS (for burnout) were utilised as the dependent variables in this study. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significant simultaneous relationship between resilience, burnout, and work engagement (R² = 0.503; p < 0.05). The findings of this study indicate a positive correlation between resilience and work engagement (β = 0.751; p = 0.000), while also highlighting a negative association with burnout (β = -0.242; p = 0.003). These results support the hypothesis that employees with high resilience and low burnout levels have higher work engagement.
