Abstract
CV. Harapan Jaya is a small-scale manufacturing company producing pyramid and cone tents that faces problems related to non-linear material flow, excessive material movement distances, and limited workspace, all of which hinder production efficiency. This study aims to redesign the facility layout to minimize material handling distances and optimize available space. The methods used include the preparation of the Operation Process Chart (OPC), Multi Product Process Chart (MPPC), From-To Chart (FTC), and layout design using Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), followed by validation through FlexSim simulation. Efficiency evaluation was carried out by calculating the Material Handling Load (MHL) and the production process time. The results showed that the existing layout produced an MHL value of 1,252.36 units and a process time of 16.2 hours. Two alternative layouts were developed, in which Layout 1 reduced the MHL to 947.89 units and the process time to 13.4 hours, while Layout 2 provided the best performance with an MHL of 888.84 units and a process time of only 12.1 hours. The integration of an additional 36.8 m² workspace into the new layout improved material flow, reduced congestion, and increased production efficiency.
