Abstract

Production machines are the main factor in manufacturing companies, if production machines often experience downtime, it will affect the results of the production process. Machine downtime causes reduced production results and stops the production process where high production results are needed to meet customer demand. Molding machines have high downtime figures where there are scheduled downtimes and unscheduled downtimes. With this problem, this study aims to improve the reliability of molding machines by knowing what needs to be discarded during molding machine downtime. By using the OEE method, we can find out the reliability value of the machine and also the three main parameters (availability, performance and quality) to measure machine reliability. So that we can find out where the shortcomings or problems of the molding machine are. Based on the data processing that has been carried out, it was found that eliminating scheduled downtime for periodic inspections can increase the availability figure which is useful for boosting the OEE value beyond the average OEE value of the last 6 months.
