Abstract
Creative Elementary School Annur Surabaya in the implementation of non-academic activities (extracurricular) requires handling and coordination between parents, activity supervisors and the students themselves, but in fact there are some problems when communication between parents and children, it will result in increase in non-academic achievements of students. In this study a description of interpersonal communication between parents and children was done to improve achievement in non-academic at the Creative Elementary School Annur Surabaya. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach, with key informants 3 parents, 3 students in grade 3A, and an extracurricular supervisor. The research data were obtained by interview, observation and documentation and data validation by triangulation, referring to the concept of the 5 stage interpersonal communication pattern of Joseph DeVito. The results of data analysis and discussion can be described that interpersonal communication between parents and children applies a 5-stage pattern from DeVito but the process applies from the initial interaction stage to the next stage of destruction there is a process of relationship improvement and returning to the intimacy stage, not until the disconnection stage occurs.
