Abstract

Emerging Adults are individuals who are fluent in using social media. According to several studies, excessive use of social media can have a negative effect on the level of psychological well-being due to fear of missing out and addiction to social media. This research aims to determine the relationship between Fear of Missing Out and Social Media Addiction and psychological well-being in individuals who have just entered adulthood. Using quantitative research methods. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique involving 159 participants aged 18-25 years who actively used social media and lived in Kebomas Gresik District. The measurement scale used in this research was compiled and adapted to the PWB theory of Ryff (1995), Fomo Theory of Zhang, et al., (2020) and Social Media Addiction Theory of Kuss and Griffiths (2017). The research results were analyzed using a multiple analysis test and the results obtained showed that Fear of Missing Out and Social Media Addiction together had a significant relationship with psychological wellbeing of 0.606 with p=0.000 (p<0.01) R2 value = 0.367 meaning fomo and social media addiction contribute 36.7% to the psychological well-being of individuals who have just entered adulthood.
