Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Bolt Former machine at PT. Unison Indonesia Industrial using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and the Cause and Effect Diagram approach. OEE is a method used to measure the productivity and effectiveness of machines or equipment through three main indicators: availability, performance, and quality. The research begins with collecting data on working hours, downtime, and operation time of the Bolt Former machine from March 2023 to February 2024. Subsequently, OEE calculations are performed for the Bolt Former machines studied. The calculation results show that the average OEE value is 67.50%, which is below the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) standard of 85%. This indicates that there are opportunities for improvement in efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the Bolt Former machine.Further analysis is conducted to identify factors affecting the OEE value using the Six Big Losses, which include downtime losses, speed losses, and quality losses. Pareto Diagram and Cause and Effect Diagram are used to identify and analyze the root causes of these losses. Based on the analysis results, recommended improvements include enhancing the preventive maintenance schedule, training operators to detect early signs of damage, and continuously monitoring machine conditions. Implementing these maintenance strategies is expected to improve the effectiveness of the Bolt Former machine, reduce downtime, and maintain production quality.This study provides practical recommendations to enhance machine productivity and effectiveness in the company, which ultimately can increase customer satisfaction and the company's competitiveness.
