Abstract

This research was conducted on the flip-flop production process at Mr. Junaidi's MSME. The sandal production process is carried out through several stages, starting from cutting, gluing, pressing, smoothing and finally the lacing process. Based on observations made on the process of making 134 sandals, it was found that the process that took the longest was the pressing process which took 21 minutes. This pressing is carried out using a roll system where the tool used is a manual roll tool where when rolling, the roll will be rotated using a lever with the power of the operator. This will drain more energy so that there is potential for workers to feel tired more quickly, plus the operator will be in a squatting position when rolling because the design of the tool currently used is quite short. If workers are tired, their output will decrease and the time needed will increase. Therefore, research was carried out to design an automatic sandal rolling tool that can reduce time so that the number of sandals that can be produced will increase with a faster processing time. With the application of anthropometry in tool design, it is hoped that the tools that will be made can make workers feel more comfortable when working so they don't feel tired easily and also by changing tools that were previously manual to be made automatic, the pressing process time will be faster where the time for pressing is reduced by as much as 16 minutes 25 seconds or 985 seconds when using the redesigned tool.
