Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between self-esteem and body image with the tendency of body dysmorphic disorder in adolescents. In this study, the population studied amounted to 100. The technique used in this study used non-probability sampling with the technique taken, namely purposive sampling. This study uses multiple regression parametric correlational techniques, because the results of the prerequisite test data are normally distributed and meet linear assumptions so that the correlation used in this study is using multiple regression. The results of the research analysis obtained an F value of 25.294 with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05, then Self Esteem and Body Image are simultaneously associated with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Obtained t count of 1.436 with a significance level of 0.154 > 0.05, so there is no significant relationship between Self Esteem and Body Dysmorphic Disorder, while the results of the relationship test of Body Image with Body Dysmorphic Disorder obtained t count -7.033 with a significance of 0.000 <0.05, then there is a very significant negative relationship between Body Image and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. The relationship between Body Image and Body Dysmorphic Disorder is declared negative, namely the higher the Body Image variable, the level of the Body Dysmorphic Disorder variable will decrease, on the contrary if the relationship between the Body Image variable and Body Dysmorphic Disorder is declared positive, namely the higher the Body Image variable, the higher the Body Dysmorphic Disorder variable level. will go up.
