Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between principals' perceptions of transformational leadership on work engagement in educators and education staff at SDN X Surabaya. This research is quantitative research with the type of research used is correlational research. The subjects of this study were the educators and education of SDN X Surabaya which were taken by simple random sampling with a total of 51 educators and education staff in SDN X Surabaya. Data retrieval is done by using two scales, namely the scale is perceptions of transformational leadership to measure the perceptions of the transformational leadership of educators and education to school heads and work engagement that reveals the engagement of each educators and education staff. The data analysis method used is Spearman Rho. The results showed that there was a relationship between the principals' perception of transformational leadership and work engagement correlation coefficient as big as rxy = 0,746 with level signifikcance p = 0,000 < 0,01. It can be concluded that there is a very significant relationship between the perceptions of transformational leadership of the principal and the work engagement of educators and education staff at SDN X Surabaya, the higher the perception of transformational leadership, the higher the work engagement. The result of this study provide answers to organizational/school efforts so that the educators and education staff become work engagement by redesigning or changing the workplace, applying appropriate leadership styles, condaucting training, and so on.
