Abstract
Sheraton Hotel & Towers Surabaya is located on Jl. Embong Malang No.25-31, Kedungdoro, Kec. Tegalsari, Surabaya City. Sheraton Hotel & Towers Surabaya is a hotel chain founded by Ernest Henderson and Moore which was bought by them in 1937. The 5-star Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers has 348 rooms and is located next door to Tunjungan Plaza. Sheraton hotel & towers. provides hospitality services that have complete facilities and a strategic location. In the current era of globalization, with competition in the hospitality world, Sheraton Hotel & Towers desperately needs quality human resources, especially in the performance of its employees. This study aims to determine the effect of motivation and discipline variables on the performance of Sheraton Hotel & Towers employees. This research uses quantitative methods. The population in this study amounted to 341 employees. The number of samples used was 88 people with the sampling technique using statistical calculations using the Slovin formula. Data was collected through observation and interviews. The data analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. Data processing in this study used IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results of this study indicate that motivation has a significant effect on employee performance, discipline has a significant effect on employee performance. Motivation and discipline have a significant effect on employee performance with a significance value of 0.001<0.05. The results of the coefficient of determination show a value of 0.557 or 55.7%, which means that all independent variables (motivation and discipline) can explain the performance variable by 55.7% while the remaining 44.3% is influenced by other variables outside of this study. From this explanation, the author suggests maintaining and developing motivation and discipline in order to further improve employee performance.
