Abstract
The success or failure of an organization is determined by the quality of available human resources. Humans are the main source in running an organization, because the human function itself is as the main actor, in managing and as executor in the production process. To achieve a will or goal that has been mutually agreed upon, the organization/company requires quality human resources (HR). Leadership style is a characteristic possessed by a leader in influencing his members. There are several leadership styles that can be used by a leader to influence and motivate members, so as to improve the quality of performance of each member. Good performance is influenced by a responsible leader, to be able to motivate and set a good example for his employees. The democratic leadership style brings the leader closer to his employees or subordinates, so that the vision and mission that is made will be more easily achieved. Good employee performance will produce good work as well. If the company has good employee performance, then the work and achievement of goals will go well because it is supported by quality employee performance. This study aims to determine how much influence the democratic leadership style has on the performance of the employees of the General Elections Supervisory Agency of East Java Province. To achieve this goal, primary data collection used questionnaires distributed to the General Election Supervisory Agency employees who were used as research samples. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that the democratic leadership style has a positive effect on the performance of the employees of the General Elections Supervisory Agency of East Java Province. The conclusion in this study is the regression coefficient (1.160) with a significance level of 0.000 less than 0.05 and the t-count value (9.341) is greater than t-table (1.669). Thus, the hypothesis proposed in this research is proven true. Keywords : Democratic Leadership Style, Employee Performance
