Abstract

Surabaya is the center of land transportation, which is the confluence of a number of highways that connect Surabaya with other cities. Urbanization of the people of Surabaya to Yogyakarta is unavoidable, on the other hand, the people of Yogyakarta to Surabaya are now many people who want to work, and go to school. With the distance from Surabaya to Yogyakarta about 324.5 km, they definitely need a proper means of transportation in order to travel comfortably and safely. one alternative is public buses. One of them is PO Sumber Selamat, there are complaints from users regarding performance and fares, resulting in a decrease in the number of passengers. This research was conducted to determine the performance of the Sumber Selamat Bus transportation on the Surabaya-Yogyakarta route with the standards of the Directorate General of Land Transportation, 2006 This research method uses SWOT by distributing questionnaires to PO Sumber Selamat users and collecting primary data (number of up and down passengers, load factor, travel time). Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel program and then the results were compared with performance indicators based on the standards of the Directorate General of Land Transportation, 2006. The results of the research on the SWOT method using a strategy of continuously rejuvenating buses gradually are expected to be able to compete with competitors in order to attract public interest, having good and professional service will be able to reduce the rate of accidents on the highway, more departure schedules from trains will be very effective. make it easier for people to travel by bus. For research results using primary data collection has met the standard load factor, travel speed, travel time and service time.
