Abstract

This research examines the image that Nur Awaludin built as a lettering artist by utilizing Instagram social media. This research aims to find out how the use of Instagram by Nur Awaludin as a lettering artist. The researcher was interested in examining Nur Awaludin’s image because track record and the result of Nur Awaludin’s work that could be found in several places. Besides that not many people know about lettering artists while they enjoy the work they make. The theory used in the study uses the theory of self presentation from Erving Goffman and the personal branding concept of Mc. Nally & Speak. The method used in this study uses descriptive qualitative techniques of collecting data through the results of in-depth interviews with informants, observation and documentation through Instagram social media. The result of the research related to building the image of Nur Awaludin as a lettering artist showed that Nur Awaludin used Instagram with the features in it. Nur Awaludin also showed good impressions and in accordance with the image that was build as an artist lettering by following community Subletter and making a project team with the name Kid Project.
