Abstract

Road hardening is a very important element of highway construction in order that the land transportation goes smoothly so that the users feel comfort and safe. Therefore, road hardening needs to be planned well based on the planning standard and criteria used in Indonesia. The technical criteria in the national road infrastructure construction should be fulfilled and the measurement is good road performance. The problem of not maximum road performance can be seen through same indications. For example the road body width and the type of hardening structure used on a road part are not fulfilled yet, these things potentially cause an early damage on the road surface layer even on the existing road body hardened structure layer. To flexible pavement and rigid pavement, for construction and maintenance fees in here researcher with Design Manual Maintenance Road (MDPJ) No. 02/M/BM/2013 Method.The purpose of this research was knowing the type of road hardening structure which is more economical which fit the planning age to handle the road widening and rehabilitation on the old existing on Km 65 road (Sp Bangkal) – Sampit city border. This research used comparative method where the result stressed on the comparison of the achievement of one designed product with the other one as alternatives. Through this research processes it could be concluded that the type of hardening structure which is more economical which fit with 20 year planning age to handle the road widening and rehabilition to the old existing on Km 65 (Sp Bangkal) – Sampit city border at station 39+200 untul station 42+400 which has 3000 m long is rigid pavement structure type.The suggestion for further study/future researcher is to include semi rigid hardening structure type/composite pavement with another method as the third alternative
