Abstract

The digitalization of learning systems is increasingly becoming a necessity to support the effectiveness and efficiency of academic activities in schools. This study aims to design the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) of a Learning Management System (LMS) application tailored to the needs of users at SMP Jati Agung. The design process was carried out using the Design Thinking method, which includes five stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The primary users in this study include students, teachers, and parents, with a focus on ease of use, clarity of information, and feature integration. The application is designed with key features such as digital school fee payments, student attendance recording, grade access, class schedules, and school announcements. The prototype was developed using Figma and tested through the Maze platform, while usability evaluation was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. The testing results showed that the SUS score reached 83.5, which falls into the excellent category, indicating that the UI/UX design of this application is well received by users across different groups. The conclusion of this study demonstrates that the Design Thinking approach is effective in producing a UI/UX design for LMS applications that is responsive to user needs and supports the digital transformation of education at the secondary school level.
