Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between fanaticism and conformity with aggressive behavior among Persebaya supporters in Surabaya City. The approach used in this study is quantitative with a correlational design. The research subjects were 262 Persebaya supporters domiciled in Benowo District with an age range of 13-18 years, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a Likert scale questionnaire that measures fanaticism, conformity, and aggressive behavior. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the IBM SPSS program version 25.0. The results showed that fanaticism and conformity simultaneously have a significant relationship with aggressive behavior among Persebaya supporters, with an R Square value of 0.735 and a significance of 0.000 (p <0.01). This indicates that fanaticism and conformity together contribute 73.5% to aggressive behavior. Partially, fanaticism has a positive and significant relationship with aggressive behavior (β = 0.319; p < 0.01), while conformity shows a more dominant relationship with aggressive behavior (β = 1.041; p < 0.01). This finding indicates that the higher the level of fanaticism and conformity of supporters, the higher the tendency for aggressive behavior to emerge. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that fanaticism and conformity are important factors related to aggressive behavior of supporters. This study is expected to be a consideration in efforts to prevent and manage aggressive behavior in football supporter groups.
