Abstract
Marriage is one of the stages that will be passed by humans during their life, the marriage relationship is a sacred thing and becomes an achievement in life, but if the marriage partner is less able to deal with the conflicts that occur during marriage, the choice will arise to separate or divorce as a solution to the problem. Married couples who tend to divorce have low levels of interpersonal communication skills and marital commitment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between interpersonal communication and marital commitment with a tendency to divorce in married couples with quantitative methods through multiple regression analysis on 61 subjects. The results of multiple regression analysis showed the value of F=18,887; p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a very significant relationship between interpersonal communication and marital commitment with a tendency to divorce, thus the first hypothesis is accepted. Furthermore, the results of the partial analysis show the value of t =- 2.159; p = 0.0035 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a significant negative relationship between interpersonal communication and the tendency to divorce, thus the second hypothesis is accepted. The results of the partial analysis test show the value of t = 4.472; p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a very significant negative relationship between marital commitment and the tendency to divorce, the third hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be said that the lower the interpersonal communication skills and marital commitment, the higher the tendency for divorce in married couples
