Abstract

Material control is one of the most critical factors in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects, particularly in dense urban areas such as Jelambar, West Jakarta. This study analyzes the effectiveness of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Safety Stock (SS), and Reorder Point (ROP) methods in controlling material inventory for structural work on a 2.5-story boarding house project. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with material suppliers, and secondary documents including the Bill of Quantities (RAB), unit price analysis (AHSP), and Scurve schedule. The results show that the EOQ method effectively determines the optimal order quantity and reduces the total ordering cost. Implementation of EOQ provides an 11% cost efficiency compared to the normal ordering system. Safety stock is calculated to accommodate uncertainties in demand and lead time, while ROP ensures timely reordering before inventory reaches a critical level. The analysis indicates that the EOQ, SS, and ROP methods significantly minimize the risk of stockouts, reduce material waste, and maintain structural work continuity. Therefore, these methods contribute to increased efficiency of direct costs and help prevent the escalation of indirect costs arising from material delays.
