Abstract

The evolution of time and technological developments have changed the lifestyle of society in the performance of all activities. There is a risk that individuals may become unrealistic when it comes to pursuing a lifestyle and making decisions because each individual uses different methods to meet all their needs. This research aims to find out whether students who tend to be more conformist in their behavior and lifestyle are more likely to make impulse purchases when shopping online. The subjects of this research were 392 students living in the city of Surabaya, East Java. The sampling method used is random sampling. Data collection was done by filling out a scale using a Google form that contained measuring devices created by the researcher. The measurement instruments in this research are (1) Impulsive Buying Scale (15 items; α=0.858), (2) Conformity Scale (13 items; α=0.808), (3) Lifestyle Scale (22 items; α=0.898). The data analysis used is multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that there is a significant positive relationship between conformity and lifestyle and impulse buying. The higher the conformity and lifestyle, the higher the student's impulse buying. There is no significant relationship between conformity and impulse buying. There is a significant positive relationship between lifestyle and impulse buying. The higher the lifestyle, the higher the impulse buying among students.
