Abstract

The carburetor is a very important part of a motor vehicle. The carburetor functions as a place to introduce a balanced mixture of air and fuel into the engine, controlling or regulating engine speed. Inside the carburetor there is a hole or pipe called a Venturi, the diameter of which affects the performance of the combustion engine. Therefore, a study was conducted on variations in Venturi diameter to improve engine performance. Three studies were conducted using three different Venturi diameters: 22mm, 24mm, and 26mm, with Pertalite fuel, and a dyno test was performed to assess engine performance. The tests were conducted at engine speeds of 3000 rpm, 5000 rpm, and 7000 rpm. The results of the tests showed that the Venturi diameter with the best performance was 24 mm, as it produced more stable results. However, the highest torque value was obtained at a Venturi diameter of 22 mm, reaching 6.2 Nm at 7000 rpm. The highest power output was achieved at a venturi diameter of 22 mm, reaching 6.11 HP at 7000 rpm. The highest AFR (Air-Fuel Ratio) was obtained at a venturi diameter of 26 mm, reaching 16.35 at 3000 rpm, indicating a mixture with more air and less fuel, resulting in more fuel-efficient operation. The most fuel-efficient consumption value occurred at a venturi diameter of 26 mm, at 0.3 kg/HP.h at 3000 rpm, while the most fuel-inefficient consumption value occurred at a venturi diameter of 22 mm, at 1.98 kg/HP.h at 7000 rpm.
