Abstract
This research aims to determine the role of organizational communication in improving employee performance at the East Tomia District Office, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Using an interpretive approach with qualitative case study research, using primary data sources and secondary data, data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation, using source triangulation with the Miles and Huberman model analysis technique. The research results show that organizational communication in the office is quite good, reflected in the employees' ability to communicate quickly and responsively. The key communication concepts applied include (1) coordination processes between employees, (2) delivery of messages directly and online, (3) circular communication patterns, (4) good relationships between leaders and employees, and (5) a safe environment. The supporting factor for organizational communication is the use of communication media such as WhatsApp and email. However, there are several inhibiting factors, such as less personal relationships between employees who feel awkward communicating with new people, as well as less than optimal supporting facilities, especially an unstable internet network. Based on employee performance data at the East Tomia District Office, it is running quite well, but needs to be improved further so that the target can be achieved. This research concludes that organizational communication plays an important role in improving employee performance in the office, although there are still several obstacles that need to be improved.
