Abstract

Indonesian tourism has been undergoing significant development. Especially with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's "10 New Bali" program, Bali's popularity has been further elevated. Other tourist destinations inspired by Bali are also drawing more attention to Bali as a beautiful island that is a must-visit for both local and foreign tourists. According to Law No. 10 of 2009, the appeal of a tourist destination brings economic benefits. In this context, communication plays a vital role in building relationships with the local community, so that both local residents and tourists respond with support for activities carried out by individuals or communities. This research focuses on tourism communication based on local wisdom. Tourism communication is needed for researchers to engage with the community and communicate the tourism potential. The literature used involves the processes of tourism communication and Community-Based Tourism (CBT). A qualitative research method with a case study approach is employed, focusing on the phenomenon of tourism communication in Sanur Kauh Village. The research findings reveal various roles as primary and supporting communicators in conveying tourism messages to tourists. The primary communicator is the manager of Sanur Kauh Village, engaging in face-to-face communication, while the youth organization (karangtaruna) uses online media and performances. Supporting communicators include vendors around Mertasari Beach, shop owners, and tourists. The development of Sanur Kauh Village has met the three aspects of CBT (tourism, benefits, and community participation).
