Abstract
Penggunaan filter Instagram di kalangan mahasiswa perempuan seringkali menjadi cara untuk meningkatkan penampilan di media sosial, namun juga dapat menimbulkan ketidakpuasan terhadap tubuh asli. Ketergantungan pada filter ini dapat memengaruhi Body Image dan Self Esteem pengguna, terutama ketika standar kecantikan yang ditampilkan sulit dicapai di kehidupan nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Body Image dengan pada mahasiswa falkutas psikologi berjenis kelamin perempuan. Setelah dilakukan uji korelasi pearson Product Moment, maka diperoleh koefisien korelasi sebesar r = 0,888 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang artinya terdapat hubungan positif signifigkan antara Body Image dengan Self Esteem. berdasarkan r hitung (Pearson Correlation) yaitu 0,888 maka kriteria kekuatan hubungan antara variabel Body Image dengan mempunyai hubungan yang sangat kuat. Hubungan tersebut menunjukkan semakin tinggi Body Image maka semakin tinggi mahasiswa berjenis kelamin perempuan yang menggunakan filter instagram di falkutas psikologi, begitu juga sebaliknya semakin rendah Body Image maka semakin rendah Self Esteem yang dialami mahasiswi falkutas psikologi yang berjenis kelamin perempuan. Filter Instagram memberikan kemampuan bagi individu yang memiliki Body Image positif untuk semakin meningkatkan presepsi Body Imagenya sehingga Self Esteem nya juga ikut meningkat. Adanya filter Instagram dapat memberikan rasa percaya diri yang lebih tinggi ketika individu merasa bahwa Body Imagenya lebih sesuai dengan ekspektasi sosial di media sosial. Namun, temuan ini juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan filter Instagram sering kali dilakukan oleh individu dengan Body Image rendah dan juga Self Esteem sehingga individu memilih untuk memakai filter untuk memenuhi penerimaan dirinya.
