Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of labor-intensive programs in improving the economy of the Pegirian Subdistrict community. Labor-intensive programs are one of the government's efforts to reduce unemployment rates and improve infrastructure quality through project work involving local labor. The study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and analyzed thematically. The labor-intensive program is a strategic effort to reduce poverty and unemployment, which has been a focus of various government policies. This program aims to provide temporary employment for unskilled workers through infrastructure projects and other productive activities. By involving local communities and utilizing available human resources, the program is expected not only to create short-term employment opportunities but also to enhance workers' skills and competitiveness in the labor market. The results of this program indicate a significant reduction in unemployment rates in areas where it is implemented, along with positive impacts on the local economy. However, the success of the labor-intensive program highly depends on proper planning, strict supervision, and strong commitment from all related parties. The research findings show that the implementation of the labor-intensive program in Pegirian Subdistrict positively impacts the local economy. The program has created job opportunities for previously unemployed residents and increased their income. However, challenges remain in its implementation, such as a lack of coordination among stakeholders
