Abstract

Retirement is the transition period of an individual from work to a time when productivity will decrease as a result of the termination of work at a fixed age, so that an individual undergoes changes such as roles, desires, and lifestyle changes. Psychological well-being is defined as a condition in which a person is not only free from stress and mental problems, but also has a healthy and well-functioning psychological condition. This research aims to find out the relationship between gratitude and psychological well-being at retirement. The research subjects in this study were pensioners in the Telkom Pensioners Association (PTEL) of West Surabaya, which numbered 84 people so this study uses a population study method. This research has two instruments namely a scale of gratitude with psychological well-being. This research is a type of quantitative research using the product moment correlation method with the help of SPSs 25 for windows. The result of a correlation coefficient of 0.260 shows that the level of the correlations of this study has a positive relationship with the degree of significance of 0.017 (p<0.05). This means that the higher the rate of gratitude of retirees, the higher will be the level of psychological well-being experienced by pensioners.
