Abstract

PT. PMK is a manufacturing company founded in Gresik, East Java. This company is able to meet customer demands with a production volume of ± 100,000 pieces of ceramic flooring per day. The problem at PT. PMK lies in the layout of the finished goods warehouse where the arrangement of goods can be said to still need improvement, the finished goods warehouse of PT. PMK is able to accommodate finished goods / Finished Goods of ± 500,000 boxes of ceramics. The proposed improvements to the finished goods warehouse arrangement are carried out using the Class Based Storage method by considering the frequency of goods entering and leaving the warehouse, as well as the distance during the moving process and the costs used in goods moving activities. This research focuses on how to provide optimal layout to increase efficiency in a finished goods warehouse. Warehousing system at PT. PMK applies the FIFO (First In First Out) principle where goods that first enter the warehouse will be released first. The research was carried out for 3 months and processing of data taken during this research activity took place. The results of this research are a decrease in the value of distance traveled in goods moving activities by 1,415.33 meters and a decrease in the value of material handling costs by Rp. 2,444,337,- per 3 months. This can be a consideration for the company regarding subsequent changes to the arrangement of goods in the finished goods warehouse.
