Abstract

The research entitled The Meaning of Aesthetics and Cosplayer Costumes (Phenomenological Study in the Cosura Community) aims to describe and find out how Cosura members interpret aesthetics and cosplayer costumes, design costumes so that they can deliver messages when cosplaying and interactions between members of the Cosura community when they become cosplayers at various events. The theory used in this research is George Herbert Mead's Symbolic Interaction theory with a phenomenological approach which views communication in interactions between individuals as consisting of various symbols as a means of exchanging messages, which can be verbal or nonverbal by dividing three concepts; mind), Self (self - phases I and Me), and Society (society). Data collection was carried out using documentation, interviews and literature studies. The results of the research showed that the informants had aesthetic meaning in portraying various cosplayer costumes events. the detail and accuracy of a costume as well as looking for anime references that will be played to the public at the event being held are important things in interpreting the aesthetics of wearing cosplayer costumes. can convey messages when cosplaying, the informants also have the same views and goals. Standardization in applying as a cosplayer, as well as having the courage to appear with full effort makes the informants who are members of the Cosura community confident in the anime costumes they play. Various activities between routine community members involve exchanging ideas, experiences, suggestions, and various things that become topics of conversation at gatherings every Friday and other meeting agreementsfrom WhatsApp groups and Instagram direct message
