Abstract

The development of increasingly sophisticated communication media technology can present information from all over the world. One of them is television, which is a broadcasting media that is still seen by the public today because it is able to display audio and visual broadcasts. From the development of this technology, digital television broadcasts began to enter, which made the broadcasting industry grow quite rapidly, so the Minister of Communication and Information set a system that analog television must be abandoned to switch to digital technology. However, almost all local televisions experienced the same problems during the transition from analog to digital, namely unstable financial resources and human resources. The digitalization of television broadcasts makes the content broadcasted very diverse to attract the attention of local audiences. This makes the author interested in exploring how Surabaya TV's local media content production strategy in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative approach and data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The results in this study show that the strategy carried out by Surabaya TV in producing content is to collaborate with local figures and communities to report on topics that are being discussed in the community. In addition, Surabaya TV also takes news or information from social media for the content they will broadcast as a form of adaptation to digital trends to maintain existence in an increasingly competitive media industry.
