Abstract

The task of final year students is apart from being responsible for their academic life, they are also starting to take responsibility for their own life in the future, especially life after graduating from college. The uncertainty of life in the future makes final year students feel worried about the failure they will experience in fulfilling existing tasks and demands so that this can trigger final year students to experience future anxiety. This research aims to determine the relationship between internal locus of control and future anxiety in final year students. This research used quantitative research with a sample size of 321 subjects. The sampling technique in this research used a purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were final year students who were undertaking a thesis and studying at universities in the city of Surabaya. The data analysis technique in this research uses the non-parametric Spearman's Rho test with the help of the IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25 for Windows program. Based on the results of Spearman's Rho analysis calculations, the value of rxy 0.674 with p0.000 (p0.01) is obtained, meaning that there is a very significant negative relationship between internal locus of control and future anxiety in final year students. The results of this study show that the higher the internal locus of control, the lower the future anxiety, and vice versa, if the internal locus of control is lower, the higher the future anxiety
