Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-control and intensity of social media use with the tendency of free sexual behavior in adolescents. This study used a quantitative approach. The population in this study was 1,686 SMK (X) Surabaya. The participants of this study amounted to 268 students of SMK (X) Surabaya using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used a Likert scale, the method for data analysis used was multiple regression with the help of IBM SPPSS version 25.0 for windows and the simultaneous test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05). This means that self-control and intensity of social media use are significantly related simultaneously (together) to the tendency of free sexual behavior. Partial test obtained a score of t = -8.343 there is a negative relationship between self-control and the tendency of free sexual behavior with a significant score of 0.00 (p <0.05). While the partial test obtained t = 14.611 with a significant score of 0.00 (p <0.05) there is a significant positive relationship between the intensity of social media use with the tendency of free sexual behavior.
