Abstract

The emergence of this new media has changed the pattern of public communication. One of the new media that is quite attractive to the public is Telegram. Roleplaying is role-playing, where the players play imaginary characters they like. With the Hides community, Picanto provides a forum for its members to become their idol figures. The Hiders Community is one of the new Roleplaying communities in Telegram media. The methodology used in this study is qualitative with a virtual ethnographic approach. The results obtained in this study are Simulation, Simulacra, and Hyperreality formed because of the existence of social media as a forum that facilitates the imagination of its users. One of KoreRoleplay is the Hiders community. The conclusion that can be drawn from the results of this study is that Korean Roleplay has succeeded in making its users enter into the imagination where users are presented as if they were idols themselves. Dissatisfaction and difficulty making friends in the real world make them run to virtual space which gives them things they have never experienced before.
