Abstract

The current increasingly competitive competitive conditions and the increasingly rapid flow of information force companies to always study changes that occur in the market in order to survive and even lead the competition. company must be able to produce products in accordance with consumer desires, because consumers are now smarter and more selective in choosing the products they need. Target costing is a tool that directly emerges from the existence of intense market competition in the industry. With target costing, the target cost can be determined, which is obtained from the prevailing market price minus the desired profit. To achieve the target cost, the company can use value engineering, which is the process of reducing costs during the design stage and before the production stage without reducing quality and function by performing optimal processes and materials needed for production. Research conducted on UD. Pak Atok's furniture in Pasuruan is a research with a qualitative approach, where the researcher develops concepts and collects facts related to research, such as determining the target cost and performing value engineering The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that through the application of target costing with value engineering can help companies achieve the target cost, to achieve the target cost the company carries out value engineering by engineering the composition of the raw materials used, so that the company is able to achieve the target cost and even exceed it, namely amounting to Rp. 3,892,000. thus the company can lower the price of its competitors.
