Abstract

Consumptive behavior as a behavior that is no longer based on rational considerations, but a desire that has reached irrational behavior, where someone only buys excessively who only thinks about momentary pleasures. This research aims to knowing the relationship between conformity with consumptive behavior buying used clothes exclusively branded in late teens. The research design used is a quantitative approach with a correlational type of research that aims to determine whether there is a relationship between research variables. Participants in the study involved late teens aged 18 to 21 years in the Greater Surabaya area, and used imported used clothes. The number of participants was 115 teenagers. The sampling technique is incidental sampling. Data acquisition was carried out by distributing questionnaire links to participants. Data analysis in this study with Using Product Moment Correlation from Karl Pearson with the help of SPSS version 20.0 program, the correlation result was 0.763 with a significance of p=0.000 <0.05. This means that there is a significant positive relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior in buying branded used clothes exclusively in late adolescence. The existence of a significant positive relationship can be interpreted that the higher the conformity of adolescents, the higher the consumptive behavior. On the other hand, the lower the conformity, the the lower the consumptive behavior.
