Abstract

This study is about love in Jojo Moyes’s Me Before You. The objectives of this study are to find the kinds of love in this novel through the characteristic of the main characters Louisa Clark and Will Trynor. The writer applies intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach used in this study is the theory of character and the extrinsic approach that is used in this study is psychologycal approach. The writer uses theory of love. In the analysis, the writer finds the characteristics of the main charcters. Louisa is anxious, hardworker, unconfident and beautiful, while Will Trynor is selfish and generous. Moreover, the kinds of love that the writer finds in Louisa character is interpersonal love, companionate love and romantic love, while the kind of love that the writer finds in Will Trynor character is impersonal love and agape love. After doing the analysis, the thesis writer concludes that there are many kinds of love that exist inside the story of Moyes’s Me Before You.
