Abstract

This thesis is a research on semantic relation of feminism in some speeches. The aim of this research is to find out the semantic relation of feminism expression in the speeches. The analysis is based on the theory of semantic and semantic relation of George Yule (2007). This study uses descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on the idea of feminism. The study intends to analyse types of semantic relation which appear in the speeches. This thesis uses the speeches from Emma Watson, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as the data. The amount of this data is 43 femisim expressions, which is divided into two parts hyponymy and antonymy. The hyponymy part consists of 17 data. The antonymy part consists of 26 data. As a result, this study found out that the speeches are having a semantic relation to feminism expression.
