Abstract

Denpasar City, as the cultural center of Bali, possesses a rich heritage of arts, traditions, and cultural values that represent the identity of the local community as well as a cultural tourism attraction. However, technological development and globalization have caused younger generations’ interest in traditional culture to gradually decline. In addition, facilities that accommodate cultural preservation, education, and modern interactive cultural presentations are still limited, creating the need for a cultural space that can respond to contemporary societal needs. The design of a Digital-Based Cultural Gallery in Denpasar City aims to create a cultural facility that functions not only as an exhibition and educational space, but also as a medium for preserving Balinese culture through the use of digital technology. The design approach combines elements of Balinese local architecture with contemporary concepts and interactive technologies such as audiovisual media, augmented reality, and digital exhibition spaces to enhance visitors’ experiences in understanding culture in a more engaging and innovative way. The design is expected to create a cultural gallery that is educational, interactive, and adaptive to current developments without losing local cultural values. In addition to serving as a center for information and preservation of Balinese culture, the gallery is also expected to become an inclusive public space that supports artistic and cultural activities while strengthening the identity of Denpasar City as a technology-based cultural city in the digital era.
