Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of empowerment in improving employee performance through corporate culture at the Griya Al Qur’an Foundation in Surabaya. The research background is grounded in the importance of human resources as a strategic asset in facing organizational competition and technological advancement. Referring to the Resource-Based View (RBV) approach, empowerment and corporate culture are understood as internal resources that play a crucial role in shaping competitive advantage. The study employs a quantitative method with a causal research design, involving all 30 employees as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on SmartPLS 4.The outer model results indicate that all indicators are valid and reliable, as evidenced by the loading factor, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Cronbach’s Alpha, and composite reliability tests. Meanwhile, the inner model results show that empowerment has a significant effect on corporate culture (coefficient = 0.765; p-value = 0.000). Corporate culture also has a significant effect on employee performance (coefficient = 0.742; p-value = 0.000). However, empowerment does not have a direct effect on employee performance (p-value = 0.211). The indirect effect testing reveals that corporate culture fully mediates the relationship between empowerment and employee performance, with a coefficient value of 0.567 and a p-value of 0.000. These findings confirm that the influence of empowerment on performance can only function optimally through the establishment of a strong organizational culture. The research findings demonstrate that the Griya Al Qur’an Foundation has high levels of empowerment, organizational culture, and employee performance, as reflected in the mean values of the indicators, which fall into the very good category. Overall, this study concludes that corporate culture is a key element in bridging the effect of empowerment on employee performance. Therefore, strategies to enhance employee performance should be implemented through the synergy of strengthening empowerment and developing a consistent organizational culture that is oriented toward the foundation’s core values.
