Abstract

Generation Z faces a dynamic work environment characterized by high demands for flexibility and elevated career expectations. One phenomenon frequently observed among this generation is job hopping, defined as the tendency to change jobs within a relatively short period. This phenomenon is often associated with perceptions of the “strawberry generation” label and career adaptability in responding to changes in the world of work. This study aims to examine the relationship between perceptions of the strawberry generation label and career adaptability with job hopping among Generation Z.This study employed a quantitative correlational approach using multiple regression analysis. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving Generation Z employees. Data were collected using the Perception of the Strawberry Generation Label Scale, the Career Adaptability Scale, and the Job Hopping Scale. Data analysis included simultaneous testing (F-test) and partial testing (t-test).The results indicated that, simultaneously, perceptions of the strawberry generation label and career adaptability were not significantly related to job hopping (p = 0.057; R² = 0.025). However, partial analysis showed that perceptions of the strawberry generation label were significantly related to job hopping (t = 2.143; p < 0.05), whereas career adaptability was not significantly related (t = 0.532; p > 0.05). These findings suggest that perceptions of the strawberry generation label play a role in increasing job hopping tendencies among Generation Z, while career adaptability is not a determining factor.
