Abstract

Burnout is a manifestation of long-standing stress that is not handled properly, resulting in pressure that causes physical exhaustion. The onset of burnout is indicated by fatigue, depersonalization, and decreased self-achievement. Burnout can occur to every human being regardless of age, education, occupation, social status and gender, so it is one of the important issues that must be considered because it can affect a person's life. The problems caused by burnout are very complex, so workers must be able to change the characteristics of an unfavorable job and turn it into a turning point in their work. Work engagement has an important role to strengthen the relationship between job crafting and organizational culture in reducing or increasing burnout. The purpose of this study is to examine the indirect relationship between job crafting and organizational culture through the mediator of work engagement. The subjects of this study were employees of state-owned companies PT.X in Sidoarjo and PT.Z in Surabaya, totaling 106 employees. The analysis technique used path analysis. The results showed that work engagement is able to mediate the relationship between job crafting and organizational culture with burnout. So employees who have high job crafting and understand organizational culture and company values will have strong work engagement and will prevent employees from experiencing burnout.
