Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of digital banking, firm characteristics, and capital structure on banking financial resilience, with Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as an intervening variable. The study is motivated by the increasing importance of financial resilience for conventional banks in adapting to digital transformation, market volatility, and regulatory demands, particularly among banks listed in the LQ45 Index on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Using a quantitative approach, this study employs the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method, utilizing secondary data derived from the annual and sustainability reports of five major conventional banks from 2019 to 2023. The variables measured include indicators such as Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Loan (NPL), and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) for financial resilience; firm size, profitability, and leverage for firm characteristics; and DER and DAR for capital structure. The results show that digital banking and firm characteristics do not significantly influence GCG, while capital structure has a significant positive effect on GCG. Furthermore, only firm characteristics significantly influence financial resilience, while digital banking, capital structure, and GCG have no significant direct impact. Mediation tests reveal that GCG does not significantly mediate the relationship between the independent variables and financial resilience. This study contributes theoretically by offering an integrated model linking internal and governance factors to financial resilience and provides practical recommendations for strengthening banking resilience in the face of digital disruption and global economic uncertainty.
